Text & Email Communication Policy

The Filipino-American Association of the Tri-Cities (“we,” “us,” or “our”) uses email and text messaging (SMS) to keep our members informed about upcoming events, meetings, volunteer opportunities, and important updates. We are committed to using these channels responsibly and in compliance with the CAN-SPAM Act and the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA). 

1. Email Communication (CAN-SPAM Act Compliance)

  • Consent: By providing your email address during membership registration or by signing up for our newsletter, you grant us permission to send you emails related to Association business.
  • Opt-Out/Unsubscribe: We respect your inbox. Every marketing or informational email we send will contain a clear, easy-to-use “Unsubscribe” link at the bottom. You can opt out of communications at any time.
  • No False Information: We will never use false or misleading headers, subject lines, or transmission information.
  • Physical Address: In accordance with federal law, all automated emails will include our physical mailing address or P.O. Box: [Insert Physical Address/P.O. Box]. 

2. Text Message (SMS) Communication (TCPA Compliance)

  • Express Consent: We will only send you text messages if you provide explicit, “express written consent” (e.g., checking a specific box on an online form to receive texts).
  • Message Frequency: Message frequency varies but is typically limited to urgent alerts, event reminders, or immediate community needs.
  • Opt-Out/Stop: You can stop receiving SMS messages at any time by replying with the word STOP. Replying HELP will provide assistance or our contact information.
  • Message & Data Rates: Standard message and data rates may apply to any text messages you send or receive. Please check with your mobile carrier for details. 

3. Data Privacy
We will never sell, rent, or trade your email address or phone number to third parties. Your contact information is used solely for the Association’s purposes as outlined in our Privacy Policy. We use secure, third-party platforms to manage our communication lists.
