Charitable Giving & Solicitation

1. Gift Acceptance Policy

Purpose: To define the types of assets the Filipino-American Association of the Tri-Cities (the “Association”) accepts and the criteria for refusal.

  • Accepted Gifts: Cash (checks, credit cards), marketable securities, and in-kind services that align with our mission.
  • Conditional Review: Real estate, closely held stock, and tangible personal property (e.g., vehicles) must be reviewed by the Board of Directors before acceptance to assess liability, carrying costs, and maintenance requirements.
  • Refusal: The Association reserves the right to refuse any gift that is inconsistent with its mission, too costly to administer, or originates from a source that conflicts with our community values.

2. Washington State Charitable Disclosure

Purpose: To comply with Washington State Law (RCW 19.09) regarding charitable solicitations.

  • Disclosure Statement: “Fil-Am of Tri-Cities is currently registered with the Washington Secretary of State’s office under the Charitable Solicitation Act. Additional financial and other information is available on file with the Secretary of State and may be obtained by calling 1-800-332-4483 or visiting the Washington Secretary of State Charities Program.”
