What motivates me to volunteer as Fil-Am officer?
I am a mom of two teen-age boys who are proud to be Filipino-American. I want them to grow up learning both the cultures. As I serve, they also serve with me by helping on events and most especially, learning the cultural art activities and dancing.

What are the programs or activities that I want to initiate/lead for Fil-Am?
I have two main programs:
1. Connect with the TriCities and neighboring cities so that Fil-Am can be part of community event presentations. We have a great cultural director that is also aiming for our mesmerizing and enlightening cultural art to be accessible and visible to the community, so I will lend my efforts and communications skills to work on making the Fil-Am art be a visible part of the TriCities and the whole Washington communities.

2. Start an active program so Fil-Am members of all ages can have consistent and regular active participations. An example is to start a regular walking/running schedule so that eventually, we can join community runs/marathons/triathlons carrying or wearing our Fil-Am logo.

What can be my message to the Fil-Am community to encourage them to participate or even volunteer as an officer?
Just listen to your heart. Somehow there is always this tiny voice that tells you to be part of something to feel “belong.” Yes, Fil-Am is a family that welcomes you to bond with caring individuals who feel and express the same “Pinoy” longing from deep in our hearts.
