Donor Bill of Rights

Philanthropy is based on voluntary action for the common good. It is a tradition of giving and sharing that is primary to the quality of life. The Filipino-American Association of the Tri-Cities (“we,” “us,” or “our”) affirms that all donors have the right to be informed fully and completely about our mission and the way we intend to use donated resources.
To ensure that philanthropy merits the respect and trust of the general public, we declare that all donors have these rights:
1. The Right to Be Informed
To be informed of the Association’s mission, of the way the Association intends to use donated resources, and of its capacity to use donations effectively for their intended purposes.
2. The Right to Know Leadership
To be informed of the identity of those serving on the Association’s governing board, and to expect the board to exercise prudent judgment in its stewardship responsibilities.
3. The Right to Access Financials
To have access to the Association’s most recent financial statements and IRS Form 990 filings via the Financial Transparency page on this website.
4. The Right to Confidentiality and Privacy
To be assured that information about their donations is handled with respect and with confidentiality to the extent provided by law. We strictly maintain a policy that we will not sell, share, or trade your personal information with any third party.
5. The Right to Truthful Solicitation
To be assured that all solicitations for funding will be truthful and clear about the Association’s activities and the intended use of solicited funds.
6. The Right to Acknowledgment
To receive appropriate acknowledgment and recognition for all contributions in a timely manner.
7. The Right to Professionalism
To be informed whether those seeking donations are volunteers, employees of the Association, or hired solicitors.
8. The Right to Opt-Out
To have the opportunity for their names to be deleted from mailing lists or to limit the frequency of contact upon request.
9. The Right to Ask Questions
To feel free to ask questions when making a donation and to receive prompt, truthful, and forthright answers.
10. The Right to Give Without Pressure
To give in a way that is free from pressure, and to have accessible mechanisms in place to address any complaints or concerns.
